Bojutsu

The Seishinkan staff method has a strong koryu flavour, but is in fact a modern style that draws on historical methods and is concerned with practical self defence in contemporary situations. The style uses the six foot Bo, the four foot Jo, the three foot hanbo, the one foot tanbo, and the six inch tansaibo or tenouchi. Since the practitioner is familer with sticks of a wide range, they are able to adapt to the random length of an object picked up in an emergency, such as a fence pailing or pipe. Unlike traditional weapons, such as the sword, the staff can also be used in a non-lethal manner.
